I was just yelling this into my computer monitor the other day.

No point yelling this at people. Americans who care already know this point, as does the rest of the world.

Also don't get me started on how much of the US was originally Spanish.

Then there is the Cajun language, also American.

To note that this is the first time I have committed to a particular political party despite being active in politics for nearly my whole life.

I am in general an anarchist and have always been distrustful of political party's. However, I am at a point where I felt I needed to clearly pick a side.

The ultra rich pay less (or zero) taxes than the poorest, yet take advantage of all the benefits (roads, healthcare, transportation, national defense, education, national parks, etc).

I do not know why we let them.

Same thing would happen to the Far-Left parties even they were to rise in popularity. Oil and Gas would start paying Green Party members huge amounts to backtrack on their commitments.

If we want a truly free society we need to remove this money from our politics by changing contribution laws.
stuartbratton.emergentdrift.com
This then makes the extremes look appealing to voters as they are then the only choices available, but as soon as these far-right and far-left parties become popular with the masses we see a sudden surge in their funding. Like Elon donated huge amounts to Reform UK and the AfD in Germany.
stuartbratton.emergentdrift.com
This is a global issue that has been brought into focus lately. UK Labour being the most obvious example, but every major centrist party has been co-opted by external forces with big pockets.

These external forces don't care who is in power, only that they own them, so they donate to both sides.
roobiefox.bsky.social
It doesn’t matter if you’re left or right in Australian politics. (Major Parties)
Both are controlled by external forces.

Both will fuck you either way. Because they don’t care about you.

End.

If we lose it, we lose one of our best defences against climate change. 🌍

At #COP30, the UK government must act to protect forests.

Carney didn't help auto by offering to build Keystone XL.
Trump remains focused on destroying our auto sector.
Carney isn't placating a "growing" Alberta-BC rift.
Danielle Smith set up a non-existent fight.
Keystone XL doesn't "suck" for the US environment - it is a planet carbon bomb.

wookiedharma.bsky.social
@charlieangus104.bsky.social This may be way off the mark, but this strikes me as a smart move by Carney because he gets progress on US tariffs and partially defuses the growing Alberta-BC rift while shifting the burden on making it hair to the US… which sucks for the US environmental concerns but

Did you see this?

Imagine Stephen Miller getting the clear voice in his earpiece to...
STOP TALKING IMMEDIATELY. NOT ONE MORE WORD!! Or he stopped himself, realizing he just slipped their next step.
This was not a tv glitch. He was still moving & blinking.

This is disgusting behaviour from Carney towards Karina Gould.

And frankly, coupled with the “boys club” stuff sources have previously told me and the way he tended to lose patience more quickly with female journalists during the campaign…he may need to “look inside himself.”
MACLEAN'S excerpt:

The attacks were genteel compared to most political mud-slinging, and Liberals warmed to her during the campaign. They embraced her as both a cherished member of the
Liberal family and, increasingly, the standard bearer for its left flank. But her needling got under Carney's skin, even though he was the front-runner (she ultimately received only three per cent of the vote). He and his staff made their irritation plain; one member of Gould's team told me that many of them were aggressive in their vitriol toward her. MACLEAN'S excerpt continued:

“When someone from Gould's team texted to ask if she could stop by and congratulate the winner, Carney said no. In fact, according to one source I spoke with, he said he didn't ever want to see her again. Carney's staff sent Gould a non-committal answer, trying not to offend her, but she showed up anyway. That led to a brief, awkward meeting with Carney.
The incident rattled some of the people around the newly elected leader. Many had worked under Justin Trudeau, who, after a lifetime in politics, had skin like a crocodile.
Carney, after years of being celebrated, venerated and treated with the deference accorded to a titan of the financial world, seems to have a skin like a peach.”

Disappointing, as I had hoped to get my German language skills up to the level needed and then apply under this program.

If they change the dual citizenship allowance, I will leave Germany.
stuartbratton.emergentdrift.com
And yes, we don't know what is meant by that from these few seconds. Lots of people get locked up to "protect" them. So I hope to see the full clip in context. However, my statement stands... If deployed, they should be there to protect the people. The people are not the enemy, not a threat. ICE is.

This is the leadership I expect.

It is amazing to me how little he claims to know or be aware of. Someone needs to do a compilation of all the times he has said this about things the entire rest of the world is aware of.

I am non-US citizen, living in Germany, and more aware of what happens in US politics than this moron.

I would also take a role somewhere by the ocean, that is warm and surfable, even it is was less money. South of France, Spain, Australia, Uruguay, and even Ireland are places I would consider.

Potentially Nova Scotia if the role was super interesting.
stuartbratton.emergentdrift.com
I would take less to work in a role that looked like fun with a good corporate culture. Money is not everything, but I do have to still be able to afford my mortgage. I will also not take less AND be forced back into an office.

I get this from LinkedIn Recruiters a fair bit, usually offering well below my current salary.

My feeling is that if you are not willing to at least make an offer that is in the general ballpark, then it is clear how much your company values its employees and how I would be treated there.
