Movie night!

I'm up to The Undiscovered Country in the current rewatch. I was only 11 when it came out but I do remember seeing it at the cinema.

Watching as an adult I get something new every time - WoK will always be my favourite but this is objectively a better film. Every line resonates with the Cold War.

Boiled this swede under a lid for 40 minutes, mashed it and it was still stringy and hard - far too unpleasant to eat. Had it been hanging around since last autumn? Or did I cock it up somehow? 🍜

Peak xennial.

Cooked on gas for the first time in a long time, in this lovely floating caravan. Simplest thing I could think of - carbonara 🍜

Most people probably don't realise but on a day like this there will be hundreds of fallen trees. They last a very long time but not forever. I'm going to guess this one was a sapling when the bungalows were built.

Wot range anxiety? The festival was amazing - better than it's been for years, we thought. The new focus was really good for it.

It's about a 300 mile round trip for us: drop the dog off at my folks, stay the night before the festival at a pub nearby, pick the dog up then home.

Back from a road trip! My favourite weekend of the year, the Cropredy music festival.

As the very silly "wind farms are ugly" discourse is doing the rounds again I thought I'd share a couple of shots from the tour of the Rampion that we did back in 2020. Just bask in these glorious, quiet and elegant machines.

Simon Jenkins being wrong alert.

This is far from the worst thing about this piece, which comes close to praising fascism, but this detail caught my eye - why is a lighthouse beautiful and a wind turbine not (a desecration, elsewhere in the piece). Does he think nobody objected to the lighthouse?

Really amazing meal out at the new Haru Izakaya restaurant in #Lewes

Great quality food, good service and very decent value, we'll definitely be back! 🍜

I'm late posting this - always a bit rubbish putting personal stuff on here - but I could not be more proud of these lads completing the London to Brighton cycle ride in aid of the Liz Clarke-Saul fund for research into adamantinoma.

U OK hun?

Because I know there'll be calls for dog pic tax if I don't...

I've looked at council and police websites and there doesn't seem to be any easy to report this so here's a social media shaming: pavements on each side of the road blocked by parked cars forcing pedestrians into the road.

One year, one month and 17 days after it started our kitchen project (which was meant to take two weeks) is finished.

It's a long time since I did a road trip (or drove anywhere at all, come to that) and it's a lovely surprise all over again just how good EVs are. Absolutely effortless to drive and - I'd argue - more convenient than petrol.

This Red Kite (?) was absolutely posing for the photo. Can't believe I got this from my phone. Pix are original and cropped.

Chilli Pickle have opened a new branch in the Lanes. Much nicer room than the original, more relaxed vibe, and I can never resist a thali 🍜

Are you sure about that?
