Was this thought precipitated by my unconscionable review of The Naked Gun?

I also kind of think reviews are tethered in time as much as the movie itself was/is. It’s not a definitive for all time rating, just how they felt that day.

The fact that everyone has a different review philosophy is almost part of the fun. I follow one reviewer who 5-stars everything and one who assigns no ratings at all.

Interesting. I don’t disagree but wonder where one would draw the line. Star ratings mean so many different things to different people. I’ve gone back and forth myself from [how much I personally enjoyed] to [how well it achieved what it’s aiming for].

Legend. I’ve tried watching with the Jerry Goldsmith score, but I have to turn it off every time. No shade to Jerry Goldsmith, it’s just the Tangerine Dream score is so essential to the vibe of that movie.

It is a good time capsule though. A showcase for late 90s pop culture excess.

I’m surprised Se7en isn’t performing better in these. I thought it was universally loved!

My vote somewhat influenced by having met James Karen and found him one of the nicest guys in the world. Definitely not the type to move the headstones and not the bodies.

Land of the Dead (sadly) seems more relevant now than ever, but man is it a bummer. Return of the Living Dead I can joyfully watch forever and never get sick of it.

No, I appreciate the break from formula. An outpost on the frontier is a novel way of representing the spirit of exploration while supporting a more serialized narrative.

Commissioned a study to prove mask mandates don't work, then buried the report when it concluded the opposite. www.nytimes.com/2021/12/02/u...
Missouri Withheld Data Showing Effectiveness of Mask Mandates (Published 2021)
Mask requirements prevented Covid-19 cases and deaths in Missouri, the state found, but data supporting that conclusion was not released until a month later.

I would go with Ghostbusters. I’m not good and don’t know what the actual rules are. But every time I get the ball to hit that little Slimer suspended in the middle of the game board, it brings me joy.

Yeah, that is frustrating. Nicole Kidman has trained me to be 20 minutes late. Occasionally it doesn’t work out.
