In my new piece for Balkan Insight I explore how Dodik’s current tactics dangerously echo secessionist strategies from the early 1990s. I argue that his approach poses serious risks not only to Bosnia but also to broader regional stability.

Milorad Dodik is on a path to achieve what Milosevic, Karadzic and Mladic tried and failed to do three decades ago. Failure to halt his hybrid secessionism will have dire consequences far beyond the borders of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Milorad Dodik will probably not leave the same brutal legacy as the convicted war criminals Ratko Mladic and Radovan Karadzic. However, his hybrid secession strategy may be just as harmful. Dodik's methods are more sophisticated than those of Karadžić. 👇

Milorad Dodik will probably not leave the same brutal legacy as the convicted war criminals Ratko Mladic and Radovan Karadzic. However, his hybrid secession strategy may be just as harmful. Dodik's methods are more sophisticated than those of Karadžić. 👇

On #RezimeSedmice, I warned that concessions to RS leadership would represent a dangerous trap. Institutions must defend our constitutional order—not fugitives from justice. EUFOR has a mandate, but domestic courage is essential.
