I would be very surprised. Are you sure it was that *a majority* trust them on the economy, rather than something like: more voters trust them on the economy than other parties? Roughl what time did they mention it?

You cannot give up on people as "voting for fascism" on the basis of a poll inclination four years before a GE - or for that matter on information you (as a politically engaged minority) have seen. Hard as it is to fathom, majority of voters still decide in the *last fortnight* before an election.

Javier Milei had to beg a bail-out and already needs another. Argentina's economy is in a tailspin. Gov't bonds and peso in freefall. People starving, throwing rocks at him.

Farage last year: "He's amazing. It's Thatcherism on steroids. Cutting and slashing expenditure. That's leadership."

I think there are senior people who get it, but those thinktanks have such thorough grooming programmes that, increasingly, it feels like there is a generation of young alumni for whom it seems that the notion the economic foundations of neoliberalism might be flawed simply does not compute.
