Semi rural urban introvert making stuff. Half Luddite, half futurist, all duct tape all the time. San Francisco Bay Area.
In providing them a structure to journal (think out loud on paper, sort their thoughts, make notes about notes), you're giving them a tool that will serve them well in every aspect of their lives. What an incredible gift to those young people.

Seriously. Get them in cahoots with Woodside and let em unleash hell for a good cause.

Thank you for convening the shenanigans in the first place. I revisit this thread often.

The folks in the ultra wealthy towns between San Francisco and San Jose (at least one place has blocked having any multi-family housing in an entire small city) would be AMAZING at this. Skill is skill, put it to good work.

I was raised with, "If you don't like it, shut up until/unless you have a better plan." Took me years to get that "That's bad, this is what's important to us/non-negotiable, you figure it out and get back to us," is a completely valid way to engage with politicians and lawmakers.

Boston made a temporary Snow Farm in 2015 in addition to dumping it into the harbor because they couldn't get rid of what they'd plowed fast enough. Apparently the Farm didn't fully melt until July. I was there for work (I'm from California) and had no idea at the time it wasn't normal for then.

Thank you for the alt text. I have often wondered why this image pops up at the regular intervals on Ye Olde Internets and now I know. Appreciate you.

It seems a lot of other people also don't know why: the ads promoting his event with the Very Expensive Tickets were nonstop for weeks.

The sound I just made... This is the hardest I've laughed all week. Thanks for the giggle.

Our Flag Means Death. Especially the first season: the humor was so quick and SO dry.

Thank you for this! I love science and nature streams like this so much and watch these as background company when I'm hand sewing.

Bless you both for saints.

Oh my heart! Such sleepy blep!

As someone who used to manually kern headlines for a living: I CANNOT.

I used to take myself for a walk and see how many blocks I could walk down in the lanes of a main thoroughfare before I saw a car. It was usually 7 or 8 and this road is normally one where as a pedestrian you take your life in your hands using the designated crosswalks.

Never underestimate how effective it is to maintain a consistent Totally Fucking Irritating Presence. It's an essential part of the work. It's happening most days of the week in front of immigration court in SF: when the sidewalk is loud and Totally Fucking Irritating, people don't get kidnapped.

Yes and no. I find myself continuously shocked (i.e. aghast, appalled, disgusted, etc.) but not actually surprised (there's precedence for so many kinds of backlash and terrible decisions based on people trying to maintain a world that no longer exists) by a lot of what we're seeing.

That feeling is the worst. Every year at the tail end of winter I start thinking if I see one more cloud I will just crumble and implode. Hoping for drier weather for you soon.

It's... grim. I live somewhere with abundant access to indie sewing shops and sewing/craft thrift stores but when I need specific tools or notions, I find myself ordering from Bias Bespoke in NYC (I love them so much) or Wawak. But I'd MUCH rather go somewhere and actually look at the things.

My pickup is a 2004 and requires so little maintenance (average about $1200 a year, the worst year it cost me $4k) that I'm going to drive it until it just won't go any more.

And huzzah to chocolate (haven't tried the Dubai thing yet) in responsive to non-recreational big spending.

Or maybe: porch pirates expecting something else abandoning their loot and booty? Either way, it's too early for all of that.

I'm in my 40s, raised in queer community, currently surrounded by very young queer folks (college town). I don't say this to shame anyone, but yeah they absolutely don't get it. I leant a neighbor "Between Certain Death and a Possible Future" and she said she couldn't imagine growing up within that.

I'm in Oakland where AC Transit has "supplementary service to schools" (dedicated lines) for middle and high school students and I'm curious about the impact and whether other metro areas also do this. (bias: I'm super pro public transit and also think there should still be school buses)
