One more observation: Heidegger's tie knot is weird. It's as narrow/symmetrical as a Kelvin, but so 3D and tight it's nearly cylindrical. I'm not sure it resembles anything so much as a Simple knot that's been tripled or quadrupled, which I've never seen in practice. It must be uncomfortable.

Back to my Nunchaku headcanon! I prefer him in the "schoolboy" knot, the four-in-hand. Not just because of his youth and irreverence (see: ボク pronoun) but also because of the social class connotation.
It's a middle-class opinion that one should prefer symmetry over this charming, insouciant knot.

It would be fitting if Rufus wears a Half Windsor, because his father wears a Full or even Triple Windsor. The latter are business magnate tie knots — maximalist, dated, new money, and American (despite the name).

Guess who wears the same tie knot as the Turks...? Reeve. He uses satin-like fabric, though; more formal, less durable, for a higher-status man with a desk job.
Guess who doesn't? Rufus. His tie is much more 3D, to suit the depth of his collars. It's also more top-heavy. My guess is a Half Windsor.

All the Turks' ties seem to have a bit of texture to them. Rude's is the most expressive, with a shiny, pointed trefoil cross pattern.
Meanwhile, Tseng changed tie fabric between Crisis Core Reunion and FFVII Remake — seemingly opting for a more conservative look when taking on more responsibility.

If you want to steal their look (symmetrical, tall/narrow triangle, not too pinched, flat not cylindrical, not top-heavy in the bulk) I'd try a Kelvin tie knot.
Aim for a reasonably substantial, black-on-black textured fabric with enough width to give the second wrap its height.

Awrite lads, I learned after my garbled late-night tie-posting spree that I can't edit posts on Bsky 🤦 So here we are again!
When I said the Turks wear the "simple" knot, I meant the one widely known as the Oriental Knot, so named for its popularity in Asia, incl. Japan.
Or is there a twist...? 🧵

Something else I noticed while checking this, other than the individual fabrics (Tseng and Elena in the ReTrilogy make stodgier choices than Cissnei and Rude)...
Tseng switches for a more conservative tie fabric between Crisis Core Reunion and FFVII Remake. A reaction to having more responsibility?
