And a high-level view of the drawbacks to residential pest management may help (this could save people money on services, always a good persuasion point). Nature abhors a vacuum. By eliminating the insects in my house, what problems am I unknowingly causing myself later?

Few other things - it may be helpful to know if it's better to use a personal repellent (like OFF or a clothing treatment) vs applying an area insecticide. If the area ones aren't as effective in providing personal relief that's a great argument to discourage use!

Understanding the role the "bad" bugs serve might help people build a more tolerant perspective. "I'm thinking like X chemical commonly used to kill mosquitoes also kills Y other insects who you didn't even know existed!"

I'm curious about the % of "annoying" bugs (like mosquitoes, chiggers, oak mites, termites) compared to the total known insect species. I'd guess less than 1% of insects are causing the perception that bugs are "bad." If control is needed, can it be done as a targeted approach vs blanket?
