For some reason I have developed a love for still life and pears and quinces are my favoured fruit.

This year, my oils and acrylics pulled me deeper into the wild—broad skies, shifting light, and the quiet resilience of wildlife. Each canvas is a dialogue with the land: wind‑swept grasses, watchful animals at dusk, horizons that promise more. Always learning, always passionate.

This year in pastels has been about stillness, presence, and the quiet truths of the world. Each piece holds a moment.
Art is how I listen to the land and translate that resonance into color and story. Grateful to share these works as part of my 2025 journey.
Which piece speaks to you most?

“Turning Toward Hope” is the title of this new floral. It reflects my current struggle with optimism. Something different for me. This sunflower was created with pan pastel and pastel pencils on 9x12 pastelmat paper.

Soft fur, sharp gaze—this pastel rabbit emerged from layers of texture & quiet observation. I worked to capture it’s presence: the way light rests on its ears, the subtle tension in its pose, the quiet surroundings.
Each whisker & shadow refined with care. Grateful that this piece found its voice.

One of my favorite subjects painted in the quiet hours on the prairies, “Whisper of The Hunt” captures the raw intensity of a tiger’s gaze. Every brushstroke reveals texture, tension, and quiet power. At 36x36 inches, this oil invites you to meet the wild—up close, unblinking, and unforgettable.

Golden quinces glow against a deep backdrop, each rendered with quiet precision—soft fuzz, subtle bruises, and one leaf catching the light. Resting on a wooden surface, they speak of ripeness and restraint. A luminous still life where simplicity becomes rich with texture and care.

Pumpkins in every stage of ripeness twist along curling vines in this richly layered pastel. Earthy shadows ground the vibrant yellows, oranges, and greens, while veined leaves and tendrils add movement and depth. A celebration of autumn’s textures—organic, bold, and beautifully tangled.

Fresh from the studio: a 9x12 pastel still life of squash and pumpkins. I loved working with the warm tones and dramatic shadows—especially the cut pumpkin spilling seeds like a story half-told. Texture, light, and autumn’s quiet abundance. #PastelArt #StillLife #CanadianArtist #BlueskyArt

A fresh crusty loaf, soft butter and a bold wedge of blue-veined beauty, all resting on a lace-draped wooden table. I wanted to capture the textures that invite touch and taste. This pastel piece was a joy to build up layer by layer.

The raven is such an intelligent creature and is fascinating to watch. This is painted in acrylics on an 11x14 inch canvas.

Which is more interesting to you? There is the tonal study on the left and the finished color version on the right. I often enjoy the tonal pieces more.

Sometimes you need to get close up to see things. This was drawn with pastel pencils on a 9x12 inch sheet of pastelmat. Available on my website.

This is a piece that I recently did with pastels. There us such beauty in the creatures around us (except maybe spiders!) I am drawn to the eyes most often as I feel they are the mirror of the soul. This will likely become a larger piece.

This is one of my recent paintings. It’s 36x36 inches. Acrylic on canvas. Moose are one of my favorite subjects as I often see them in my own yard.
