I just paid $150 for an annual subscription to the Guardian, a great British newspaper with which many will be familiar.
Now we all know the newspaper business is not flourishing, but what is with the Guardian’s constant begging??
It is not clear that a subscription will make it stop! What would?

Dean Obeidallah really nails it. After Vance praises Germany's 2025 Nazi party, he and Trump proceed to dishonor the treaty we made with our World War II allies. Can they sink ANY lower?
Sen. Lisa Murkowski has lost no time in calling them out for the traitors they are.

The Yankee National Party is an interesting idea. A young friend in Maine brought this to my attention in conjunction with the projection that New England will be an island in 200 years. Whether this is precisely true or not, New England and New York voted somewhat as an island in 2024.

It is heartening to see European leaders and Justin Trudeau meeting in Kyiv. Will the U.S. be able to join them about January 20, 2029, or will it be worse than that?

Re: purge of Military leadership, as reported by Heather Cox Richardson: Trump is a dictator right now and is fighting the rule of law at EVERY turn. Judges are resisting, but we must be ready to back them up.

I had begun to fear that no part of the Federal government was functioning, but the State Department just managed to renew a passport in 10 days. That doesn't mean we are not in grave trouble.

Can anyone explain the appeal of Sally Rooney's writing? Hated her first book and now trying her latest - equally awful. Is she trying to be Faulkner?
