I am only assuming the disability of these two people is they have autism. If that's the case, then the real story is why young are people on the spectrum falling through the cracks in society and end up turning to criminal behaviour.

The reporter is a breakfast show co-host who had come directly from the Channel 7 newsroom. The whole thing is a beat up. Apparently, the trip was paid for by the NDIS which means the two young people have a disability but that seems to be not as important as stirring populist outrage.
