I’m not sure that many bike riders realise that before they get close to a horse and rider that the horse will already have heard the bike-wheels as the movement of the air in the spokes makes a sound the horses hear but humans don’t and horses will often react to the sound before the humans know.

And as for the scenario of finding riding oneself and ones horse riding up a narrow hillside bridleway and meeting a bike rider enjoying a speedy decent downhill when there is nowhere for either to escape …

I would fully agree with what you say about drivers and cyclists. But like drivers can be a danger to bike riders, bike riders can be a danger to horses and their riders.

Please remember that bridleways are also (and originally) rights of way for horse riders. They are still vital trails for horse riders, whose steeds, however safe or reliable they are need to be considered by anyone using the bridleway network.

View from here this morning. Little cat not impressed at all. He even stayed put while Hoovering going on, when he usually is out through the cat flap the second it starts.

Not today - and probably not tomorrow morning either. Little cat not impressed with view this morning. He even chose to stay put when the Hoover was going !
