Totally blown away last night by 'Paddy' a one-man play about Paddy Armstrong, one of the Guidford Four, wrongly convicted of IRA bombings in 1974. Don Wycherley's bravura performance is a joy, tempering the horrors with humour. The play is currently touring Ireland. Catch it if you can.

A lovely lunchtime concert at the Hugh Lane gallery last Sunday, with Francesco Turrisi on the piano and Marco Ambrosini on the nyckelharpa. The what? This amazing keyed fiddle was new to me but has a long history. An angel in a fresco in Siena dating from 1408 can even be seen playing one!

I just have to give a shout out to 'Sanatorium', the wonderful first film by Ger O'Rourke. Set in a run-down health resort in the Ukraine, this documentary is gentle, humane, funny and poignant, and will be Ireland's entry in the Best International Feature Film in the next Oscars.

Weird and wonderful stuff at the Sculpture in Context exhibition in Dublin's Botanic Gardens. Who'd have thought those tree branches were fragile objects made of teabags. Someone had a lot of cuppas.
