When I first went to Washington, I was impressed that the White House was relatively modest. It signalled that this was an office and no one living there was too grand (Clinton was in the house). This extension undermines the first citizen principle.

The gambling industry has always taken its proverbial Rolex off before entering the Treasury to plead poverty. From gaming machine duty to rises in minimum wages, via business rates and NICs they say they will close but always keep taking a profit.
