Good idea. Don't have your eggs all in one basket - we have (close) relations with the EU, so relations with China as well as the US is just as helpful.

We already have closer ties to the EU. Rejoining the EU is not happening any time soon. It will take years for the UK to get back into the EU - a lot of work beforehand had to be done. One does not just walk back into the EU. Starmer has started the process by getting closer ties to the EU.

And therein lies the problem. If you get Trump out via the 25th Amendment of the Constitution, with VP Vance, you are basically replacing like for like.
