Labour seem reluctant to opt for Leveson 2. I wonder why?

True, but the freeports now being set up in the UK do not follow the EU model and would preclude us from rejoining.

It's becoming more and more obvious that Labour are pinning all their economic hopes on Freeports and SEZs. That will keep us out of the EU for decades. So far this Government has done nothing to help the people, just a lot more sucking up to big business and to hell with what the rest of us want.

It's truly scary how many of the noncritical thinkers in the UK are seemingly turning to Reform as the antidote to Labour. I just hope that the next bi-election result will be a wake up call to Keir Starmer that it's time to help the people, not pander to the right wing press or big business.

Starmer should concentrat on growing the happiness of the UK population instead of trying to 'grow the economy'. Then the country might stand a chance of getting back on its feet. Tax the rich; feed, house and educate the poor, and then maybe we'll get through the next couple of bumpy years.

Maybe you think 'it will take decades' or 'they won't want us back' or 'petitions don't work', but if you believe deep down that our future lies within our closest trading block why not sign this anyway! You never know. If you don't ask you don't get. petition.parliament.uk/petitions/70...
Petition: Apply for the UK to join the European Union as a full member as soon as possible
I believe joining the EU would boost the economy, increase global influence, improve collaboration and provide stability & freedom. I believe that Brexit hasn't brought any tangible benefit and there ...

Just the inspiration I need for Veganuary. Thank you!

I agree with you. I think Keir Starmer is misguided in putting "country before party" though. It should be people before country, party or economy. If you have the people on your side, you're far more likely to succeed in your endeavours. A happy, healthy, secure population should be his priority.

If this government don't do something truly socialist like nationalising water asap, they'll lose the next election. The electorate are less interested in growing the economy and more in favour of improving people's health, wealth and happiness. I'm somewhat underwhelmed by their actions so far.
