In Chicago we averaged ~3000 (mostly vacation/dogs related) miles yr driving. Now well into 7th year in LA, same. Maybe a little less flexibility, but otherwise PT is solid (for US city).

Her The Free Press would have to shutdown after a week if it were held to this strict doesn't-advance standard. And - and this shouldn't need to be said - 60 Minutes has a much different - larger, broader normie - audience than the NYT/Atlantic.

LA Times pivot hasn't been as bad as I feared. Feels the same except the occasional Josh Hammer and like op-eds. I miss it and may have to re-subscribe. The WaPo is gone gone gone

One of the many great things about Perlstein's Nixonland is learning just how reactionary (i.e. racist) our nations top newpapers were at the time. The NYT was bad but the Chicago Tribune, boy, pure white panic.
