Are we really all standing up here dressed like this? It is a dream? 🤗

At the 100 year event these two men performed a ceremony called Kami (gods) Sumo to ward off evil spirits. Having their topknots made up in this style - a tradition from the Edo period. Can you make both men? 🤗

The 100th year of the JSA commemorative event happened.

Well you can tell her you were right this time. I’ve seen him in person in the venue. Was even more striking.

Civilian Takakeishō. I like it. The haircut makes him look less thin. It suits him.

Takakeishō’s transformation into a 13 year old boy is almost complete.

Takakeishō’s danpatsu (top knot cutting) ceremony. Notice former Ōnoshō is more emotionally than TKS. 😊

For what it’s worth the Kiri in his kabu Kiriyama is the character 桐 which means pawlonia wood, while Kirishima’s kiri is 霧, which means mist.

You might have meant お疲れ様でした maybe? I kind of like what you wrote though: “You were the moon.”
Kind of works with that round face of his. I like it. 🤗

Bsky algorithms continue to think I look at lots of images of large half naked men. Well I do but..

You got my brain cells going - ah right - they had that big face off on the last day in 2021 or so, Terunofuji was still an ōzeki and though Hak took the yūshō they still made Teru a Yokozuna and then Hak retired the next basho.

I knew it was Sh.. something. Heh.

And from this day forth shall be his name.

Day15
In interview for his first yūshō as a yokozuna Ōnosato said he was overzealous in first bout so he steeled himself for the playoff because he knew he couldn’t let it slip away from him like that. His dad was in attendance. #Akibasho2025

Just for a second, juxtapose that killer Takanoshō smile and the killer Takanoshō stiff arm in your mind. #akibasho2025

Km Takayasu 6-8 (L)
Sw Kirishima 6-8 (R)
Never could have thought the Yasu that lost ōzeki and dropped in the ranks could regain this kind of mobility. #akibasho2025

Day15
M1 Tamawashi 5-9 (L)
M5 Kotoshōhō 3-11 (R)
Washi didn’t have his best basho - but this outing he still moved to all time 9th place in career wins, 5th place in career bouts, 3rd place in makuuchi bouts, and continues to pad his overwhelming 1st place all time consecutive bouts. Whoa.
