friendly lurker!
Imho anything that might be explored is all too depressing. Possibly due to recency, but I suspect we will get very little media from the COVID years, which for history reasons is a shame, but I also wouldn’t be interested. I like to remember the little escapism of not needing to wear a mask still.

Instead of celebrating the scientific miracle of the vaccines, it became so politicized by conspiracy theorists that literal world-saving science, on the level we hadn’t seen since smallpox or polio vaccines, was instantly and utterly undercut by politics - how nihilistic!

To add, it also did not have the kind of heroism we culturally fetishize (like war) - media set in say, the infectious disease ward in a hospital would not be treated the same as a military piece.

There was no clear victory to the pandemic. The vaccines were miraculous. People still died after.

It was a bad time of too much stress and too little going on - just utter helplessness.

I'm on my eighth 'novel' (unpublished). I work a day job. Have had lots of health issues the past two years, it has been a huge struggle to have time or energy. Trying to be so proud of what we've accomplished anyway.

True. And there's a fine line as well in midsize for getting too wide of experience imho - general domain knowhow is good, but sometimes you get stuck in a role where your day to day doesn't let you gain mastery over anything, and mastery and depth become an off-hours task. It's a balance.

It's an #a11y problem. So, so genuinely.

Source: Have autism, UI changes genuinely make me throw up. It's asinine to me that people believe it's "just a UI change", there is a whole SUITE of people with disability for whom it is a huge, world-shaking problem, who will do anything they can to UNdo it OR to no longer use your product.
