Appropriate reliance is key to safe and successful user interactions with LLMs. But what shapes user reliance on LLMs, and how can we foster appropriate reliance?

In our #CHI2025 paper, we explore these questions through two user studies.

After taking some time off to recharge and be with family in Korea, I'll be moving to Seattle with my husband (finally putting an end to our Princeton-LA long distance). I've never been to Seattle so please share your favorite places for 🍴☕🍷🎾🏃‍♀️🏞️

I'm thrilled about my next position at Apple! Fantastic colleagues & environment & location (Seattle), somehow the stars aligned 🌟🌟🌟 Really excited to continue research on responsible AI & human-AI interaction and expand it in new ways.

It’s been a wonderful 5 years where I got to work across AI, HCI, and FATE with truly amazing mentors (tagged above, Ruth Fong, Elizabeth Anne Watkins, @tanialombrozo.bsky.social, @markriedl.bsky.social) and friends. I am very grateful and hope to pay forward the help and kindness I received.

I'll be at #CHI2025 🌸 to share 1 paper and 2 LBW on fostering appropriate user understanding and reliance on AI (LLMs and not). Let's catch up and connect!

What I've been up to: job market & research (responsible AI, human-centered evaluation, overreliance, anthropomorphism) 🤓
