@gavinverhey.bsky.social Isn't it strange that the moment you switch decks when playing ranked standard on Arena the kind of decks your opponents are playing changes as well? Does this work at my local game store as well? Can I just go aggro and suddenly nobody is playing Azorius? Nobody wants this.

@gavinverhey.bsky.social How come Hexproof doesn't protect from Tishana's Tidebringer? It's a targeted ability of a spell so at least by my logic since I resolved Hexproof before Tishana was cast then it should fizzle the targeted ability of the card. How does it differ from say Sheltered by Ghosts?

@pablo.show Watched an old episode in which you guys mused about a star athlete who wasn't obsessive, who just went home and lived their life. Look into Ken Dryden, one of the greatest hockey goalies of all time who walked away from the sport in his prime to become a lawyer and later politician.

@thatsyguy.bsky.social According to RJ Seanchan Ogier do not suffer from the longing since they weren't separated from the steddings during the breaking. We see the Ogier first start to develope the longing in Rand's Rhuidean vision and it is mentioned as a post breaking ailment in the early books.

@thatsyguy.bsky.social We know that Heroes remember all their past lives while between incarnations. This implies a soul-memory, which if something were to go wrong might bleed through. The soul itself is the same it always was, and the access to this past life memory only further proves it.

@gavinverhey.bsky.social Magnetic Theft specifies that control of the equipment doesn't change, but Amy Rose does not have this text. Wouldn't this imply that Amy Rose would function differently from Magnetic Theft?

@thatsyguy.bsky.social The Aes Sedai as is often the case were the architects of their own downfall when it came to Hawkwing. Hawkwing was the only commander who found success against the False Dragon Guaire Amalasan, capturing him as part of the White Tower initiated campaign (FY939-943).

@gavinverhey.bsky.social The Pro Tour really needs more resources dedicated to production. Can't imagine what it's like for someone who doesn't know the meta to try and follow without seeing players hands or being able to examine cards in order to read them.

@thatsyguy.bsky.social You're correct that the Amayar are the ones who make porcelain. Imo Jordan does however intend for us to draw the connection to the Da'shain Aiel. The Amayar are described as more fair of skin than the sea folk and with no real intermarriage between the two groups.

@thatsyguy.bsky.social The fluid nature of good and evil are a central theme. Seanchan come across as obviously evil, yet they are one of the safest nations with very little corruption and arguably the most social mobility. As a common person who can't channel, there isn't much of a downside.

@tolariancommunitycollege.com Commander Baumi made an interesting video playing an all game changes list and it seemed like there's a very clear idea for a Shuffle Up episode there with everyone playing 50 gamechangers (so it's not quite as anti-synergistic). youtu.be/CVh1_cO39Dc

@wowclassicdevs.blizzard.com Is there any place in particular you'll be monitoring for balancing input regarding the MoP beta? There's concerns about forced mob rep grinds to be read before raid and Grim Batol leveling grind.

@wowclassicdevs.blizzard.com when are we getting some details on the philosophy for MoP Classic and common concerns that have been raised by the community about MoP/issues we've had with Cata? Would be good to get the discussion going now so people can respond before stuff is locked in.

@thatsyguy.bsky.social Guybon gets his name and likeness from a real person whose wife won the naming rights for a character in a charity auction in support of victims of torture.

KoD is btw pretty beloved in my experience, it's in my personal top2 alongside TSR. Galad prologue is a reason why.

@aggrend.bsky.social Just wondering, is the classic team aware of the plague that prepulls have become on progression servers? Is there any hope of a fix, obviously I think almost everyone would rather have it right now but at least for MoP? More hands on approach is desperately needed.

@thatsyguy.bsky.social The Thom and Moiraine hints are there, and again we're dealing with a prophesied match. Moiraine clearly knows who Thom is from the very start, and Thom knows what she is and since she gives her real name we can assume he works out her identity if not there then soon after.

@thatsyguy.bsky.social I believe the first mention of the Eelfinn and Aelfinn by name is by Birgitte to Perrin when he's hunting slayer in Chapter 28 of TSR. Collectively they're called the Finn by the random, which is a bit funny since that's just the term for a Finnish person.

@thatsyguy.bsky.social end of Chapter 10, Fires of Heaven, Ronde Macura sends a message of the failed capture to two places, and the man whose pigeons she uses discreetly sends a third copy. Her first message was to the Tower, but the second was sent west. Tarabon is to the west of Amadicia.

@thatsyguy.bsky.social Wolves/Wolf King do not otherwise appear in Karaethon cycle. Might be thinking of Masema proclaiming that animals will fight for the light after wolves come to help with the trollocs at the start of TDR. Faile also jokes about telling her father Perrin is the king of wolves.

@thatsyguy.bsky.social The Salidar six swearing to Egwene happens off-page, Myrelle and Nisao swear to her after Egwene discovers what they've done with Lan, and they are then sent to fetch the others to swear as well. This is ACoS chapter 12. Sheriam had earlier admitted they'd sent the ferrets...

@thatsyguy.bsky.social There is a canonical female counterpart to the Dragon soul. She only appears briefly in the background of some Horn of Valere scenes, but she is Amaresu, based on the Japanese sun goddess Amaterasu (same themes of sun, light and dawn as we see with the Dragon soul).

@thatsyguy.bsky.social I do wonder if the tv show isn't colouring your perception to what extent the books portray LTT as guilty of hubris. The s1e8 cold open where LTT and Latra Posae discuss his plan fully calls him out for it, while omitting Latra's opposition or that they are losing the war.

@gavinverhey.bsky.social Have you guys ever considered doing a collab with infinitokens to add set themed dry erase tokens into packs? Just came to mind watching profs video on Innistrad and blank double faced token he got in one of his packs.

@thatsyguy.bsky.social You're almost certainly right about Tuon's father being a general. Sanderson believes and I agree with him that luck is meant to be a soul trait in WoT and specifically great generals are almost always spoken of as lucky and as gamblers in the series.
