@sunzoweng.bsky.social
I am Unfinished Buddhist monk.
I speak English poorly.
I make a lot of mistakes.
I would like to write down what I have learnt from my mistakes and I have felt in my life.
If you have any questions or concerns, please ask.
(I will answer what I know.)
'Where to look, and how to perceive it'

There is an apple tree.
Where do you look?
At a single fruit?
At several fruits?
At the branches?
The tree?
Something else?
Your perception changes depending on what you look at.

'Things you won't know until you talk about them'

Some things remain unclear when viewed from afar.
Approaching and speaking with someone may reveal new insights.
The reverse is also true.

I believe you may discover new perspectives, encompassing both positive and negative aspects.

'It is about being able to celebrate'

Today is Christmas 🙂
While cakes and presents are important, the most important thing is [the heart] of celebration.

Let's not forget that heart ✨

'The Buddha's Last Words' Part 7

If you seek a peaceful and tranquil state free from suffering, depart from noisy places and practise in a quiet spot alone.

We live primarily in groups. While groups certainly have their merits, they also inevitably give rise to many troubles.

'The Buddha's Last Words' Part 6

If you wish to be freed from various sufferings, know that you have enough.

We always seek something more, even though we already possess what we need💧

'Appropriate amount'

Everything has its proper measure.
Medicine becomes poison if taken in excess.
Poison can become medicine if used in the right amount for the situation.

The proper measure varies according to constitution and changes with physical condition.

'Saying things like "that's lame" or "that's cool"'

Some people comment on others' clothing or behaviour, calling it lame or cool, but basing judgements on such assessments isn't particularly wise.
It's better to consider them merely as a point of reference at best.

'Let us act with goodwill'

Ultimately, acting with ill will is never advisable.
Even if you perform a good deed with ill intent, thorns will sprout somewhere💧
They may be ordinary thorns, or thorns with barbs. In some cases, they may even be poisoned.
These thorns will prick you too...

'The Buddha's Last Words' Part 5

The virtue of patience surpasses both observing precepts and ascetic practices.
He who can endure is a great person.

In life, there are inevitably times when one must endure.
At such times, these words from the Buddha feel heartening🙂

'The Buddha's Last Words' Part 4

The mind consumed by anger and resentment obstructs one's own life and undermines one's interests.

The flames of negativity burn fiercely, consuming not only oneself but those around in the blink of an eye.

'When you do a good deed, let it go from your mind. When someone does a good deed for you, make sure you remember it'

Even when you do something kind, remembering it can stir feelings like, "I helped them back then."
It is enough to feel glad you were able to do something good.

'The Buddha's Last Words' Part 3

Those who are greedy seek many things, and thus suffer greatly.
Those who desire little seek nothing, and so are free from such suffering.

Incidentally, this does not mean forcing others to endure hardship.
It concerns controlling one's own desires oneself🙂

'The Buddha's Last Words' Part 2

One must not squander one's life in idle slumber, gaining nothing, and living in vain.

How one lives is, of course, up to the individual, but I think the life one is given is something special, not something to be taken for granted.

'The Buddha's Last Words' Part 1

The Buddha passed away at the age of eighty, but before doing so, he delivered a sermon to his disciples.
The content of that sermon is straightforward and, I believe, still relevant to us today.

'Freedom'

The liberty to act as one wishes, free from constraints.
Yet, needless to say, freedom comes with responsibility and consequences (or cost).

One must accept the results of one's free actions.
Do not forget. Please take heed.

'Reflecting on Self-Sacrifice'

Our present human society is built upon countless sacrifices made in the past.
Among these were surely acts of self-sacrifice.
Moreover, I believe some acted without even recognising it as self-sacrifice.

'Each has their own circumstances'

I too have my own circumstances. Presumably, you all have your own circumstances as well.
It is inevitably difficult to perceive the circumstances of others.
They cannot possibly be absent.

We must not forget that others have circumstances just as we ourselves do

'Check your footing'

In the midst of our busy daily lives, we all occasionally overlook minor checks.
While looking ahead is important, keeping your feet firmly planted is equally vital.

Be mindful to avoid careless slips or mistakes.
In severe cases, they can lead to serious injury💧

'Let us align body and mind'

When both are united as one, full potential is realised.
It cannot be achieved by one alone.

For instance, if you practise sports reluctantly, your progress will be slow.
A mere verbal apology also struggles to convey genuine remorse to the other party.

'Small things gather to become great'

Even the smallest light, when gathered together, becomes a great radiance.
One person's strength may be small, but when many join forces, it becomes a great power.
Scattered, it cannot be achieved; united as one, it becomes possible.

'One by one'

Things have suddenly become rather hectic, and it'll be a bit of a whirlwind for a while💧

I'm feeling a bit daunted, but times like these are precisely when you just have to take things one step at a time.
I'll do my best🙂

'The Establishment of Existence'

What constitutes the existence of 'I' or 'you'?
Buddhism teaches that these are not inherently fixed, but arise through relationships.
If it were only me, I believe the distinction of 'I' would be unnecessary.
It is because 'you' exist that 'I' come into being.

'It's full of love'

We never cease to seek love.
So please remember:
Everything is already filled with love.

Love is not something consumed, increased or diminished; nor is it something that binds or compels.

Love is love🙂

'Satisfy the heart's'

Do you ever find yourself eating too much?
There are various reasons why we might consume more than necessary, even when our bodies don't require it.
One such reason, I believe, is that we are trying to satisfy our heart's.
