There's a toy shop near my office, on days that I go in I'll stop by. Here are my pickups for this month:
Backstop: best basic/scout/core whatever
Shard: one of the better recent deluxes, but no Spinister.
OX Rewind: Fantastic little guy, detailed and possible
King Atlas: might be too G1

We're in a K-shaped economy right now: If you're in the upper ~20% of household income you're doing great, and have more money to spend than ever. If you're not in that cohort, you're suffering, so we see a proliferation of expensive 3p stuff, robosen, statues, while hasbro is shaving pennies.

A lot of that was just aping Lee/Silvestri but, you know, worse. For me peak Iron Age was Stephen Platt on Prophet. He took what Liefeld was trying to accomplish stylistically and turned it up to 11.
