My entire professional life happened due to social media. I only applied to my first job due to a Twitter recommendation from the person who became my mentor there. All my talks, magazine articles, some journal articles came about through socials.

For the first time, I predicted a Nobel prize topic correctly! I did not pre-announce it on social media this year, but @cmjaeger.bsky.social and @peonor.bsky.social can attest that I did announce my guess in person to a room of chemists 🤣 #chemsky #MOFs

Years ago, I always waved hello to a churchyard gardener as I cycled to work. One day he flagged me down so we could introduce ourselves properly. On hearing I do sci, he said "oh, do you do the thing where you have the tubes and the other little tubes, and you pour liquid between the tubes?" Yes!

a. sex addiction counseling group in texas did a surveymonkey and extrapolated the results to the entire us population which is the sort of research design that earns you an ff on an intro methods class (the extra f is for extra effort), and
