Women athletes. How can so many read a room better than anyone else in pop culture?

Chiles has always deserved more.

Overhearing students in the library is sometimes the best.

"Bitch, we all know you aren't coming back [to review their study]. You are going home to watch Bridgerton."

If you want to know how successful the messaging of the last two weeks has been out of Minneapolis, my Republican congressman in the southern part of the state didn't even mention immigration in this week's newsletter.

In the midst of all the horrors, my kid has his first rock performance tonight.

Reliable reporting that ICE is in Winona.

This must be an option to rotate them off of the stress of Minneapolis, because for the most part, we don't have a large population of obvious immigrants. They aren't going to hit Miller's goals here.

I know campaigning is hard, but it kind of breaks my brain every time I see a new Mamdani video and he looks about 5 years younger than my mental image of him from 3 months ago.

I wondered if this was coming when my NP's scheduling assistant contacted all her patients last week to reschedule future appointments. Because the NP was getting deployed.

We are officially at "women make a northern Minnesota bar change one tv from the Vikings to volleyball" stage of #everyonewatcheswomenssports

We stopped in the Merry Christmas Bar and it was amazing....

Follow my substack for....

(I don't have a substack. Can still fully endorse Carmody Irish Bar for punk music and beer brewed onsite.)

I do really love how the best Mick Herron characters often play into people's underestimation of their abilities until it's too late.

It probably shouldn't have taken me 6 months to realize that Slow Horses only exists because of Nancy Pearl.

Librarians continue to be underrated in our cultural acuity.

One of my favorite parts about having a shaggy dog is his love of fresh snow.

In holiday movie news, I am looking forward to a sequel starring Cynthia Sterling, but that's maybe because I'll watch Lucy Punch be a snobby brat in nearly anything.

This reminds me of the time my insurance wouldn't cover my dentist appointment because it exceeded the area's average cost. When I asked them for the average cost, they told me they didn't share that information.
Dr Oz: "If you had a check in the mail, you could buy the insurance you thought was best for you"

I can't believe I came here to talk about Bradley Whitford being the best part of The Diplomat this season only to find out it's not even the best thing Bradley Whitford is in this week.

Today is when I figured out that Woodman's expanded into Illinois before Minnesota. And I have never felt more betrayed by Wisconsin (outside of elections).

A student club at Winona State has booked a speaker to spread misinformation focusing on inaccuracies about harms that inclusivity has had on women's sports.

Another student club would like to find a speaker addressing the need for a broader definition of female athletes. Any suggestions?

Definitely not dispelling any concerns about US Bank acoustics at this Paul McCartney gig.

The benefit of only becoming a rabid sports fan as a perimenipausal women's sports fan is that I can just switch to an audiobook of weird British people solving a mystery and pretend like that was the sole content of my evening.

If Kayla manages to pull the lynx through this I, the most non musical theater kid of all time, will sing the entire Wicked soundtrack.
September 29, 2025 at 1:27 AM
Where are people watching the Lynx tonight?

(Besides Bar of Their Own, since I'll be rolling in close to game time, and they will be at capacity way before then.)

I love how airplane economics means that for every single flight, airline employees have to figure out, by themselves, how to make effective emotional appeals to check bags.

Minnesota State Fair people: Crop Art has a line. Follow the rules. Don't be a jerk. And if you make our amazing crop art supervisor cry, you should probably be kicked out of the fair.
