The difference, of course, is that the Confederates were treasonous renegades. I wouldn’t put garden variety Republicans in that category. We are talking about rebuilding a country that reasonably and appropriately accommodates their interests. Their leaders need to represent their interests.

My concept is that local police, when they are on or arrive at the scene of an ICE induction or protest against ICE presence, should advise ICE that ICE thugs who abuse folks (i.e., commit a crime) will be arrested. There is a federalism question. It needs to be answered by the courts.

Mike Johnson thinks that he is clever. He is not clever. He is stupid. Who does he think that he is fooling by establishing stupid goal lines and then moving them when Dems tell him that they are willing to do what it takes to cross them? The man has no integrity and honor. He is a weasel.

Reestablishing a stable American democracy is a failed venture without the involvement of Repub leaders. I am not saying that they will engage. Rather, I am saying that it will not succeed if they do not engage. The American democracy experiment, in the end, may fail. I am wide eyed about that.

Yep. If Dems, Independents and reasonable Repubs commit to putting an end to this Trump dictatorial nightmare, by crashing the polls next November, they can make that blue tsunami a reality. We have to believe that Dems can secure the House AND the Senate and bust our asses to make that happen.

I don’t think that America — at least in my lifetime — will again be what she was pre-Trump. Consequently, Americans have to decide what they want this country to be. Reshaping institutions and establishing new norms? Absolutely. It’s not just up to Dems. Repubs will play a critical role.

Absolutely. Soooo…Repubs are going to hurt a lot of folks — interestingly, the majority of them are in red states — who are going to be pissed off bigly next November. That’s partially why I see a blue wave forming over the horizon.

Recall that Obama said that all we have to do is pass the ACA and everything else will take care of itself because folks, once they have attainable health insurance coverage, will fight to keep what they come to understand is essential. Repubs now want to take away that coverage. Not a good look.

Preserving health insurance access is very important. Dems, please keep the federal government shut down until Repubs cave on that. As important, in my estimation, is reigning in ICE, which is totally out of control. Keep the government shut down until Repubs give you a firm commitment on that.

The folks being assaulted can do something about it. Get a lawyer and press charges. Then file a lawsuit to include ICE and all of the above. Hold them to account. We must reset the rule of law at the local, state and federal level. Bury them in lawsuits.

You can’t remove after conviction in the Senate unless you impeach in the House. Dems need to do what they can to put the piece of the puzzle that they control in place. Besides, do you know what an impeachment does to the mind of a malignant narcissist?
