Jelly Roll is interesting character. Grew up in Old New Orleans in 1880s-1900. Was a "bucket boy" in NO whorehouse. Spy boy for NO Indian crew, when it meant blood in the streets during Carnival. Played in the sportin' houses and bars. Knew the rough characters from Storyville.
