BBQ loving Texas Guardsman disappears into the jungle of Chicago a la Kurtz in apocalypse now and they find him a year later looking almost exactly the same but surrounded by hot dogs and polish sausages instead of BBQ.

One Battle feels like it captures the Pynchon thing better than Inherent Vice did, which is kind of unexpected, but like, the sadness and the esoteric crackle are much more present here. Long, but largely cause it had to be. Its a generational epic of late America after all.

It really doesnt feel great as a player, but it lets me just give someone $ for their record instead of like, a fraction of a cent.

Babe, are you okay?
You've barely touched your Coprophagia Haagen-Dazs
A package of dog supplements meant to deter stool-eating. It has "Coprohagia" in large font and, overall, looks like a pint of ice cream.

This is from the book they based "one battle after another" on; i cant wait to see what PTA's done with both the eloquence and the ongoing consolidation of authoritarianism afoot now.

“…the perennial question of whether the United States still lingered in a pre-fascist twilight or whether that darkness had fallen long stupefied years ago and the light they thought they saw was coming only from millions of tubes; all showing the same bright colored shadows.”
—Pynchon’s “Vineland”

I did "Vineland" when i first got audible and its a really good middleweight Pynchhon imo, some beautiful passages and unexpected emotional punch.

I'm so checked out of movies that I didn't even realize "One Battle After Another" was based on "Vineland" which means I need to see it yesterday.

I've only been sick for that long a handful of times; hope it lets up soon!

You could also just have it be a little sd card case with keys to a single trumpcoin in it.

The pedestrian outcome is Vance going Dubya mode and beating Newsome 52-48.

Defacto managed democracy where one side just loses fair and square for a generation because they suck.

Medicine Coup and Education Coup would also likely be popular; peoples' instincts favor competence and genuine commitment to the job, it's just that the form politics has taken manages to grossly attenuate it into this whole other spectacle.

Military coup that, had it been voted on, would’ve enjoyed more electoral legitimacy than any actual leader.

Early favorite from new I'm Letting Unseen Forces Take the Wheel; most obvious example of them landing stuff thats gross and pummeling and gorgeous and shredded in a balance only they can deliver. If it's like the last one, I'm sure more will unfold on more listens; the point is that it overwhelms.
So Who's The Fear And Who's The Loathing, by I'm letting unseen forces take the wheel
