Angola is demonstrating bold leadership through its 2050 strategy to reduce dependence on oil and prioritize progress on global biodiversity commitments.

Speaking in Athens at the 8th Edition of Circle the Med, a highlight was meeting Alexandra Cousteau who is using her voice to contribute to a legacy of more informed consumers increasingly demanding regenerative products rather than exploitation of our shared ocean resources.

Today at UN Headquarters in New York, I had the honor to moderate UNEP’s side event at the #BBNJ Preparatory Commission, showing how the BBNJ Agreement and UNEP-administered environmental agreements can work together to efficiently deliver real results for our ocean. Synergy is essential.

Here in Assam, I had the privilege to meet Purnima Barman, Champion of the Earth 2022, who introduced me to the inspiring women of the Hargila Army.

They are saving a species and showing us how nature action and development go hand in hand.
