This chonk, surrounded by snacks, is a kererū (New Zealand native pigeon). They are not the world's most aerodynamic bird.
A large kererū or New Zealand wood pigeon sits on a branch surrounded by leaves and a handful of orange berries that it has not yet eaten. The bird has a fluffy white front, with dark green and purplish upper plumage, and a bright orange beak. It surveys the photographer with the species' usual nonchalance.

I think our new tūī friend may have lost something. We’re used to seeing and hearing lots of them in surrounding trees but this one keeps coming down the the hedge close to our windows, for my viewing pleasure
