Watched ‘The Librarians’ on BBC iPlayer, and I encourage everyone to seek it out on any platform or in any cinema you have access to.

But also avoid the picnic option if there’s a risk that Monsieur Manet will turn up and ask you to strip off for his painting.

Technically no, but I was using the term slightly lazily as it illlustrates the same potential for misunderstanding.

Yes, that would be better. Or better still, not to mention Branagh at all since he's irrelevant here.

If I remember right, this was the case for all early 80s pop lyrics.

I have no memory of this song (embarrassingly unlike The Tweets) but it’s peak 1981 #totp

Started watching ‘The Hack’. Not sure I’ll stay with it, but was amused to see Senate House in London having to stand in for Broadcasting House given that it’s an ITV production.

Sad news indeed, but also a classic example of a sentence that absolutely calls for the Oxford comma.
Facebook post from the RSC about the death of Patricia Routledge including the sentence “She performed in several RSC productions in the 1980s, including Henry V with Kenneth Branagh and Richard III.”

Impressive how they kind of anticipated the sound of a dial-up modem.

“Brian’s the gammon.” That kind of figures #TheArchers

I’d always pictured a sort of steely grey-blue colour, or else just black.

I've never quite got over my 17-year-old self's disappointment at the fact that the Eiffel Tower is a sort of taupe colour.

Is this Scottish castle holiday going to turn into a version of The Traitors or a cosy crime mystery? #TheArchers

I know they have great collections, & visited there during a conference some years ago. But the memory of the callow ordinands who shouted abuse at a brave & tearful mature student who shared her story of why she had made the difficult choice to have an abortion still hits hard.

I’m afraid I can only think of Ushaw as the Durham University college that in the late 1980s famously never sent reps to the Students’ Union until there was a debate on a parliamentary bill to restrict access to abortion. Then they sent 2 coaches of trainee priests to argue in favour of the bill.

I was at primary school in the early 1970s and this means nothing to me. I think we did harvest festival but because my mother thought it was utterly phoney to take tinned veg into school in the name of harvest, it was always a bit fraught for me.

I really want to read this but I’m afraid I’m waiting for the paperback.

I know this is not the most important takeaway from this story, but I’m intrigued that German media follows the German convention of giving the suspect’s surname as an initial only although US media has spelt it out.

I think Alice was unexpected, though not an accident as such.

At least they've not got him presenting 'Saturday Live' yet.

Ooh, the Ambridge cricket team are never going to play for Ambridge again. Does this mean no more tedious cricket storylines on #TheArchers? 🤞🤞🤞

Thank you for sharing this. A measured, informative (and terrifying) read for a Brit trying to understand what the heck is going on over there.
