Such a pleasure to be guest reader in Llansteffan, at an event exploring how we might deepen our connection with the more-than-human world. I shared prose from Where the Seals Sing, poetry from Words the Turtle Taught Me & there was stimulating conversation, art by Romola Parish & a lively open mic.

Looking forward to sharing prose from Where the Seals Sing and poetry from Words the Turtle Taught Me at this event in Llansteffan tonight, focusing on how we might expand and deepen our relationship with the more-than-human world. #poetry #morethanhuman #creativenonfiction #naturememoir

Overlooking Aber Felin, the bay that's at the heart of my nature memoir, 'Where the Seals Sing'. Acer and I watched - and listened to the howls of - a small haul-out of pregnant cow seals. Not long now till the pupping season gets underway.
A young fox-red labrador sits on a rocky outcrop above a bay encircled by cliffs. He is wearing a red collar and harness and panting as the day is warm. The sky is bright blue with some wispy clouds. The sea is a deeper blue colour and very calm.

Like the old-growth coastal redwoods that host whole other ecosystems in their spires, these extraordinary Australian stick insects reveal not only the richness and mystery of mature forest canopies but how vital their protection is for countless forms of life.

Check out Susan Richardson's powerful poem sequence ‘The Sack and the Selki’e — a moving exploration of how plastic pollution is affecting seals. Huge thanks again to Susan for writing this amazing piece for the ‘Rethinking Fables’ project. @susanrichardson.bsky.social youtu.be/vQ1wfvlUcWU

Birthday joy continued with a visit to Cors Caron, the raised bog near Tregaron, to seek out the beautiful carnivorous sundews. #plantlife #carnivorousplants #wales
Tiny red carnivorous sundew plants, their fine hairs covered in the sticky droplets with which they ensnare insects, are sprouting from a boggy bed of spaghnum moss.

Happy 99th birthday to the man who gave voice to the wild. 🎉

Sir David Attenborough, thank you for a lifetime dedicated to the natural world, and for sharing its story with wisdom, wonder, and grace.

You've inspired generations to fall in love with nature.
This photograph captures Sir David Attenborough seated outdoors on the rugged terrain of Skomer Island. Behind him, the ocean and coastal cliffs form a scenic backdrop under a clear sky. Sir David, dressed in a khaki jacket and light trousers, looks towards the camera with a gentle expression, exuding a sense of warmth, calm, and wisdom. Around him, puffins can be seen flying and perched on the rocky ground, illuminated in rays of golden sunlight as the sun sets behind the cliffs.

Episode 15 of the Shapes in Motion podcast, is now live! 'Sarah Perry speaks with writer and poet Susan Richardson about the profound relationship between writing and movement. They explore how the body and the written word intertwine...' Such a joy to be interviewed and talk about this theme.
