There is also something going on where if many of the missing parts of the novel had been included in the movie they would be regarded as derivative of films that postdate the novel: Kill Bill, Lost in Translation, F&F Tokyo Drift, Shin Godzilla …

Has anybody said the rhododendrons in Last of the Mohicans? (Also: Terrence Malick would NEVER. He was meticulous about sourcing wildlife sounds for The New World, for instance.)

Yeah, mediums don’t need cards or other props at all. Tarot was not nearly as trendy when the movie was made as it is now. I think that the most likely explanation here is that those are the cards Billy Bob Thornton’s mother used with her clients, since he based the character on her.

I could probably recite the script for Wonder Boys by heart atp. After seeing OBAA my first thought was that my favorite genre must be movies where the lead wears a bathrobe outdoors.

Run hot water on the lid and then knock it with the handle of a butter knife. Which I resent being told when there’s strong arms right across the room but to my chagrin it usually works.

Has Indiana reconciled its Waffle House problem? In the grunge era there was a Waffle House in Bloomington that was not a real Waffle House but that seemed to have prior claim to the name in the state; real Waffle Houses had to be called Waffle and Steak.
