This right here, and you can apply to any genre. When people complain about stuff like "All romantasy is the same" or whatever, I can tell you're only reading one kind of author (cishet white) because there is A LOT of interesting stuff going on if you branch out from that POV.
Like, at all. We can argue about the trad pub issues with editing, pub timelines and greed.

But that's not what these takes are about.

The only thing takes like this are telling me is that you don't read BIPOC authors, you don't read queer, you don't read indie pub. Do you read sff at all?
