Inspired by a recent commission that @moulage.bsky.social got of himself redesigned as a horse, I decided to give my take (or should I say 'give head'?) on the concept x3

I love regular fursuit dance comps, but I *really* wish cons would host more night market/AD performance events with fursuit pole dancing, striptease, burlesque shows, etc. They were more common in the 90s/early 2000s but have largely disappeared.

And honestly the anti-gay sentiment (Let's not kid ourselves. That existed in numbers) in the 'early' fandom carried into late 2000s/early 2010 thanks to stuff like Crush Yiff Destroy or SAFurs. I think Jerry Collins and Shawn Keller still get their panties in a bunch over how 'FURRY IS TOO SEXUAL'.

While sure there were a fair amount of queer folks that are legends (Robert Bear comes to mind), I wouldn't call old furry stuff built on queer stuff. Liberalism, sure. But a token gay character every now and then did not make it. I remember there was some token gay guy in Omaha the Cat Dancer.

There was ASB in 1999 but I dunno. Never felt good about that comic - it was slutty and dirty one issue to turn into this 'guys lets get serious' the other. While sure queer people existed in fandom spaces in 90s and 2000s, I feel it always was trying to be 'legit' and push towards this clean image.

I have a different recollection when I've first joined the fandom around late 90s. I felt like there was a lot of art/publications targeting predominately straight furries with some lesbian stuff thrown in to the mix (drawn mostly by male artists). Stuff like Genus Male came later in 2002.
