You can’t cut hundreds of billions from #Medicaid without harming people. New CBO analysis confirms proposals House Republican have floated would leave millions uninsured, each slashing billions from Medicaid w/ $170b-$472B in cuts coming from lower enrollment . www.cbo.gov/system/files...

These headlines about Trump and Musk trying to increase the birth rate alongside the headlines of how they are cutting research on women's health, eliminating Head Start and slashing Medicaid are...really something.

Thread: eliminating the 90% federal #Medicaid matching rate would require states to come up with an additional $626 BILLION in their own funds over the next 10 years to continue the Medicaid expansion for nearly 21 million low-income people according to KFF estimates: www.kff.org/medicaid/iss...
Austin Scott previews how House Rs plan to cut Medicaid: "The federal govt is paying 90% of the Medicaid expansion. What we've talked about is moving that 90% level of the expansion back... nobody would be kicked off Medicaid as long as governors decided they wanted to continue to fund the program"

The GOP passed a budget resolution tonight that will gut Medicaid, SNAP, and other vital programs — as 60% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck.

Why? To finance more tax cuts for the top 1%.

We have socialism in this country for the rich, harsh capitalism for everyone else.

The House Republican budget released today by Budget Committee Chair Jodey Arrington is an extreme giveaway to the wealthy at the expense of families who already have a hard time making ends meet.

Medicaid Facts: In 2023 #Medicaid covered 39% of all children & 80% of poor children based on Census data. Administrative data show that about 35 million children had Medicaid or CHIP-funded Medicaid coverage as of July 2024. #healthpolicy

Looming Government Shutdown Could Undermine Federal Oversight of Medicaid Unwinding
Sadly, we’ve been here before and it’s highly likely that we’ll be here again. Where? Staring a government shutdown in the face and wondering what it means for federal health care programs like ...

More than 6 million people lost Medicaid coverage in the past 6 months during the "unwinding" from pandemic-era protections. This time of hyper focus on Medicaid renewals has shown that for nearly a decade many states have been out of compliance w/ federal regulations. www.clasp.org/blog/spotlig...

Key point from my colleague Suzanne Wikle -- as horrifying as the huge loss of Medicaid coverage under unwinding is, most of the problems with state renewal processes are not new, just more visible and at scale. We need to do better: www.clasp.org/blog/spotlig...
