Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the U.S. A small flock of wild turkeys wandered through the neighborhood last week. Here's one sitting on my fence. They flew into the back yard, so I opened the gate so they could get out easily. They decided to fly out instead!

Been a while since I posted but wanted to share this little fella. A Kildeer chick hiding in the grass by the beach, for birds on the ground for #BirdOfTheDay. There was a family with 3 chicks. I liked how this one blended in. Wish I had gotten even lower to the ground for this.

For birds going for a #walk on today's #BirdOfTheDay I have this Western Meadowlark. It was fun watching this one walking around the campground at Badlands National Park in South Dakota on our trip this summer.

A Green Heron right before taking off for #BirdOfTheDay 'Any Bird with 3 or More Colours.' I see a lot of these along the edge of the lake fishing/hunting but this one surprised me, literally. I heard it, turned and looked up and caught it just before it flew off.

For #BirdOfTheDay today, #birdsinmygarden I decided to share the most unusual bird I've seen in my yard. These are wild turkeys. Wild turkeys are fairly common around me, but to see them wandering around the neighborhood and even coming into yards ... that was pretty unusual!

For #BirdOfTheDay I have 2 small birds. As mentioned by others, you just have to include a Wren. This is a House Wren with babies. Every year we get Wrens in at least one bird house. The other is one of my favorite birds, the Ruby-Throated Hummingbird. Both are from a few years ago.

Spring 2025, northwest Illinois. The red-breasted grosbeaks were migrating through. This one landed close to me and stayed for a few seconds allowing me to get a few shots. Such a beautiful bird!
