12 Century Trailokyanatha #temple walls with fabulous #Murals in #Vegetabledye depicting the lives of the #Tirthankaras.

Thiruparuthikundram, Kanchipuram , Tamil Nadu India Jain temple complex is famous for Vegetable Dye paintings on the ceilings and walls. The paintings mainly depict three Tirthankaras – Adinath (Rishabhnath, the first Tirthankara), Neminath (22nd Tirthankara) and Vardhman (Mahavira the 24th) and Yakshi Ambika (Dharma Devi, the Yakshi of Neminath).

There are a lot of panels related to the first Tirthankara, Adinath/Rishabhnath. In Jain tradition, the Tirthankaras are the seers who have attained the ultimate knowledge and have gone beyond the cycle of life and death.
