Read the Robot series by Asimov. Mind blowing that in 1955 he writes about the Solarians who can only tolerate interacting with other people through the use of technology! Kind of like everyone on this site is doing rn

Love Earthseed and Octavia Butler (if you need a break read her short story, "The Book of Martha" - one of my favs). However, I don't necessarily think it was difficult to spin a dystopian tale of the USA from 1993.
