A lovely wood well worth exploring!

Brilliant day at South Gare today… wasn’t the case sadly. And only about an hour. Scenery etc was up to scratch tho, as was weather, with heavy showers!

Is this Yellow field-cap perchance? 🍄

1 1/2” of rain in 3 hrs have left Swaledale a tad damp this morning!

And yes the Mini and the “highways maintenance” truck have f**ked it😂😂🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

I knew ObsIdentify would be able to help😂😂😂😂😂
October 25, 2025 at 11:22 AM
I like testing ID apps on known examples of difficult taxa.

Tried your pic and Obsidentify comes down heavily in favour of G oppressana…🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

Amazing!

Over 50 moths this morning including 13 Yellow-line Quakers (my record). A late Snout was a surprise as were two more new for the 🔲, Mottled Umber and Acleris rhombana.

Highlight being Pale-mottled willow. Second for me and the 🔲

Sunday was a fungi sort of day!

If the purple one is indeed a Lilac Fibrecap, it doesn’t appear to have been recorded in Swaledale previously 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ (NBN Atlas)

A few hours at a grey and cold @nosterfieldnr.bsky.social yesterday.

A few goldies, a few pinks, one reddy, one shely, and a cettis (golden plover, pink-footed geese, redwing and shelduck😂).

Highlight of the day tho was a large flock (4/500) of fieldfare on the moors on the drive over.

Hope this is a Pearly underwing.

If so a VC first I think (unless any have been caught earlier this year?)

Ah… any ideas on this one?

Cold afternoon dog walk. Another nice winter title flock, today with Siskin.

Gone a bit oaky today with Osk-stump bonnet and a leaf mine. Stigmella, Ectodelia or unable to tell????

BUT don’t buy a pork pie from ⬇️

£2.85 for a small pie that you couldn’t tell where the pastry ended and the meat began. I’ve had some poor ‘growlers’ and this was up there with the worst.
Tasteless rip-off shite.

40+ moths in the traps last night.

Mervs, Bricks and Sattelites were nice, but this fella has me confused? (R-L Quaker?)
