(3/3) The carhouse at Leslie Barns will be named after former Mayor David Miller in recognition of his contributions to transit.

(2) Public discussion and possible revelation of a peer review of TTC infrastructure was punted to the November board meeting.

The TTC Board met on October 6 and considered among other things: CEO's report with details of bus service quality and a proposed wayfinding strategy. stevemunro.ca/2025/10/07/t... (1)

This is a fundamental issue with "transit oriented development" around GO stations. It doesn't change work trip patterns within the burbs. And yet there is no talk about essential improvements in local and regional bus service. (2/2)
swanboatsteve.bsky.social
Another issue re suburban vs central Toronto density and transit use is that trip lengths in the burbs are longer and more diverse because homes and jobs were designed around car access. You can't magically create a transit city just by building more dense housing there. (1)

Here's a question: there is always the question of how much NATO would respond to escalation of Russian activity in eastern Europe. What if the USA invaded the "51st state"? Can we get the Brits to burn down the White House again, preferably while occupied by agent Orange and friends?

Service on 512 St. Clair was improved in September, and better route management was implemented. The results are mixed at best. stevemunro.ca/2025/10/05/5...

(2/2) Although this does not directly affect front line operating vacancies, it implies a constraint on growth going into 2026. How this aligns with Mayor Chow's commitments to service improvements and fare initiatives remains to be seen.

Now we know: the reliability of TTC eBuses is substantially lower than their diesel and hybrid fleets: stevemunro.ca/2025/09/29/b... Why has the TTC hidden this data in misleading CEO Reports for years?

Far too often there is neither shelter nor chair. Not a bus.

When are we just going to kick that ass out of the country?

The TTC's Audit Committee changed the recommendation for confidentiality of the UITP review leaving it to full Board. The committee also asked management for a report back on work they propose arising from the report. My article is updated with the revisions. (Link in prev post.)

It is often affected by street and traffic signal locations. There is also an accessibility factor of stops are too far apart. It's a red herring compared to issues like slow speeds for "safety" and bad track maintenance, not to mention TSP issues.
swanboatsteve.bsky.social
There are very few stops to be eliminated without creating big gaps. There are far more important things to be done. Bus routes actually have closer stops and manage better speeds. At the risk of sounding testy, I'm tired of focus on superficial issues like this while ignoring operational practices.

I agree, but fully expect to hear weeping and wailing from developers who can't sell/rent units without parking especially in MTSA's that are outside of the core. It's not enough to have a station at your door -- the transit system must take you to your destination.

How long until the housing industry claims it cannot build new housing without parking and DoFo smites the earth with new parking mandates?
swanboatsteve.bsky.social
On one hand the city encourages new builds with little or parking. The effect on street demand is obvious. Even houses may contain multiple occupants with cars. It's hilarious with the new MTSA zoning there are no parking minimums. It will be interesting to see what is built.

TTC's Audit & Risk Management Committee will receive a peer review of streetcar and subway assets and maintenance at its Sept. 22/25 meeting. The main report is confidential in its entirety. What are they trying to hide? stevemunro.ca/2025/09/19/t...

I've been wanting to write that article for a while and the UITP report provided the hook. A shame the report is confidential with only a brief presentation deck. We need to know details of what is proposed on many topics and what an implementation plan looks like.

Slow streetcar operations are due to many more factors than traffic congestion including TTC operating practices and infrastructure maintenance. stevemunro.ca/2025/09/18/t...

(5/5)Republicans and Tories deserve nothing but contempt, but we're too polite to say so.
