I’m sure Josh Shapiro can find a suitable replacement for the rest of Fetterman’s term. I had liked him, but enough is enough. When you miss close to a fifth of the votes, it’s time to admit you just aren’t up to the task at hand.

The filibuster can’t be used during reconciliation. The issue here is that the bill isn’t strictly budgetary - it contains policy changes, which aren’t allowed under reconciliation. So the question is whether Thune will abide by the parliamentarian or not.

Had Connolly been alive to vote no, the one R who voted “present” would have changed his vote to yes in order for the Bill to pass Don’t blame the dead guy for dying. (And yes, they should have chosen AOC to lead the Committee instead of him).

Question: it’s my understanding that Trump did not overturn the ‘de minimis rule’ (going into effect 5/2/25) for countries other than China/Hong Kong. So, can’t we still legally buy items <$800 from countries like Canada and Mexico? If so, I am all for supporting our allies with our small purchases.

That and the cost of bringing back employees wrongly terminated (plus any penalties from the multitude of lawsuits being filed), as well as the cost of playing ‘catch-up’ on the work that didn’t get done while these employees were barred from working.

Exactly how efficient can DOGE be when they cut jobs and programs only to reinstate them later? How much are these mistakes costing taxpayers?

Pretty sure that lawsuits are being filed already. This will go to Federal Court first, where there are still decent judges. We should see an injunction fairly quickly.

Let’s make sure his ratings also tank by keeping a different channel running on TV that isn’t broadcasting the inauguration. It’s really all he cares about, crowds and ratings.
