It can be hard to try to practice things you're not good at yet. Having a template of your liking to force yourself to copy helps. You'll have learned a bit how to draw that thing cus you commited to doing it complete. Putting it to use comes later.

I used to save images I liked on Pinterest and tried to copy every detail of a drawing I liked so I could absorb elements from the style. It also helped me draw faster and more confidently.
