I would say the areas are a lot more legends arceus-ish, it revolves a lot more around catching pokemon and doing little tasks within a time limit of just a few minutes. I essentially start sprinting as soon as I get in and chuck ultra balls at random to get all my tasks done before time lol

essentially you go into special one-time-only areas that temporarily boost the level cap up to 200 based the the difficulty of the area. once you leave all your levels return to normal, including the pokemon you caught (they usually decrease down to like lv 45 or so).
