My employer provided health plan increased from $350 to $1,000.

If only there was a mechanism by which a body of people could manage this. We could choose them by secret vote. We agree to give a set % of our income to be used to care for the poor people in our country. We'd have to be sure the chosen ones aren't cruel grifters, though, or that would ruin it all.

Gatekeeping safe meds allows doctors to get extra office visit fees, aka co-pays. If we could willy-nilly buy our own ointments, how would doctors ever pay off their student loans? And if they didn't have to pay 100's of 1000's for an education, well, that would be scary socialism.
