Who decides what’s ‘hate speech’ and what’s dissent?
A single Glastonbury chant shattered the illusion of free speech, exposing Britain's fragile moral panic machine

The controversies over winter fuel allowance and welfare reform have been unfortunate and really badly handled and mistakes like this are seized upon to rubbish the whole government.
July 2, 2025 at 6:46 PM
The attacks on the Labour government have intensified. Claims that they have reneged on all their promises yet they are pressing ahead with the Green New Deal, nationalisation of the railways, investment in Health and Education, workers' rights act, resolved long running Labour disputes etc

Trump is a boy with too many toys....arsehole

And he started the war against Iran.
June 22, 2025 at 9:07 AM
The hypocrisy of Netanyahu knows no bounds....outraged at the Iranians damaging an Israeli hospital having destroyed several hospitals in Gaza and continually slaughtering Palestinians queuing for aid.
June 22, 2025 at 9:06 AM
I thought Bowen's in depth article on Gaza was excellent....but when will Netanyahu be held to account,

Then there is the party chair who has quit as well....what was it that Cameron called them, a bunch of swivel eyed loonies?
June 7, 2025 at 9:58 AM
The number of Reform councillors elected in May who have been suspended, expelled or quit the party is now at least 4, mostly for embarrassing messages, but Donna Edmunds in Shropshire thinks the party is cult!
June 7, 2025 at 9:57 AM
Nigel Farage, the new working-class hero, Reform the party of the workers, who voted against every clause of the workers rights bill! Complete arsehole.

Good news from Romania....a victory for Liberal and Democratic politics over a pro-Putin right winger. Let's hope the final results from Poland and Portugal match this...as I hoped, I think the extreme right wing Nationalists have reached their high point and are retreating.
May 20, 2025 at 7:47 PM
I'm surprised that many Liberal and Democratic people still have accounts on X. I never twittered, and feel that people should just close their X accounts and leave the right-wing nutcases to talk to each other.
May 4, 2025 at 8:32 AM
The BBC is run by the extreme right....giving a platform to the extreme right. Left wingers, the genuine anti-establishment people, not financed by the mega-rich, hardly ever get a look in.
May 2, 2025 at 8:53 AM
What a nightmare. Farage's face all over the media because they beat Labour by 6 votes in Runcorn. I just hope the complete horlicks they'll make running Lincolnshire will do for them, and it will be the beginning of the end of rightt-wing extremism

I see that Tony Blair has been pontificating again, this time about the unrealistic net zero target. Why does anyone take him seriously especially when he comes out with garbage recommending Carbon capture and storage as an alternative. It has never worked and will cost billions achieving nothing.

Congratulations to Mark Carney and the Liberal party of Canada. Carney has shown himself to be a World leader of stature in recent days. He'll run rings round Trump. Pleased for all my Canadian friends
April 29, 2025 at 8:12 AM
Have there ever been so many awful leaders round the World, Netanyahu, Putin, Modi, Erdogan, Trump, Orban, Xi Jinping....and that's without thinking.
April 27, 2025 at 9:15 PM
The Labour Government is a two headed monster. One head is a traditional Social Democratic party, improving workers' rights, nationalising the railways, investing in Green technology. The other cuts benefits and refuses to tax wealth to pay for public investment.
April 27, 2025 at 9:11 PM
What a lovely warm and sunny Sunday morning!
April 27, 2025 at 8:50 AM
Just been looking at the proms programme for the summer. Some great concerts, but overall unbalanced. No
Carl Nielsen, as usual, and no Haydn, unless I've missed something! Yet 5 interminable Mahler symphonies
April 26, 2025 at 9:20 AM
Friday morning, lovely spring day but polically things are as frustrating as ever - an unpopular Labour government, and voters drifting towards Reform...a bunch of right wing fanatics financed by big business, and lead by a disgraceful serial liar, closely associated with both Trump and Putin.
