If you read the rest of the interview, it isn't about technical challenges of having CarPlay but about his belief that, "...applications will start to go away and you’ll have your AI assistant."

I’m really glad CommunityKit exists. But I still strongly believe that Apple should resume in-person WWDC. The face-to-face interaction with Apple engineers was invaluable. Remote works no better for devs than it does for teams, a big reason, Apple RTO’d. Time for RTWWDC.
