Is this one of the guys @philinvestigates.com reported on? The ones trying to set ip in Jackson County?

Yeah, that’s why the Supervillains changed the discussion. They’re storytelling elements that shift the dynamic and get away from the simple ask of “are superheroes fascist?”

It is a great thought experiment. Lots of discussion from that.

And man, do I miss sitting behind the counter and debating this stuff.

Fair, but theoretically he could do infinitely more good using his fortune to influence Gotham economically than beating up criminals.

Supervillains also shake the argument up, as that’s a whole different issue.

But this is like the “does the existence of Batman make more supervillains” debate

In the “real” world, it’s only a matter of time before a superhero tried to enforce his ideas on the world, like Ozymandias in Watchmen.

The odds of us getting a super powered, well intentioned farmboy are less likely than an arrogant self entitled superpowered fascist dictator.

Because humanity

The issue with Superman is a bit more complicated. That much power in one person is a fascist dream come true. His inherent kindness and consideration keeps it from being an issue, though.

But I think part of Moore’s ideas about fascism is based on the fantasy inherent in that.

I’d say that there is an inherent strain of fascism in the idea of vigilante’s who enforce their own idea of what’s right and wrong

Batman, for example, is fairly fascist.

His vision ignores the economic reality of Gotham, which leads many to a life of crime by circumstance. Doesn’t matter to him

The 3rd ring of Dante’s 7th circle was blasphemers.

I mean, she was probably just mKing a hyperbolic statement, but…

It was the one I saw regularly on TV as a kid. It’s also one of the movies that I talked my parents into renting not realizing that the TV version edited out nudity and swearing.
