I would like to make it clear- and let this be my final word on the subject -that I truly don’t recommend the experience of “trying and failing for years and years to access gender-affirming care, in the face of a lifelong lack of hope in your ever getting to experience the baseline bodily comfort that would come with being able to access gender-affirming care; depending on the at least vicarious experience of gender euphoria through art while knowing full well what voyeuristic relationship the *audiences* around you are going to have with such personal expressions of bodily experience”

A screenshot of a text post describing the experience of operating multiple CCTV cameras. The text reads: My first time operating CCTV cameras I was handed control over what was essentially 50 independently moving eyes that collectively covered an area about the size of a football field and from that experience I now know that 1. Suddenly having 50 moving eyes can make you disoriented and barfy and the adjustment period sucks ass 2. It takes both more and less time than you'd think to figure out what the structure as a whole looks like and where those eyes ARE 3. After you get used to it the entirety of the structure itself and all of the eyes you can see from feels like an extension of your nervous system in a very bizarre way. Like I have dreams now from the perspective of A Building and I'm not sure how to describe that. 4. Once you are aware of an unreachable blind spot it nags at you constantly and you can feel it like a hard little lump under your skin you need to poke and scratch at and it's ardghgguychgghhbhhhbhhh #suddenly full of an inexplicable longing to be a building with 50 eyes as if I'm missing my own body. OK

As the weather's a bit cooler I'm playing a bit more VR stuff again, and I'd forgotten just how good Half-Life 2 works that way, despite being a retrofit of a 20+ year old game. Some great gunfights!

A lot of the best maps and mods (including Minerva: Metastasis) are available to play this way too.

I updated the description on my 2019 story Voyage to Avalon
Voyage to Avalon By Joyeuse, posted February 18, 2019 So this is the story that I'd described as being "nearly finished" in my last submission... it's been a while since then, hasn't it? Sorry about that. I've been taking it very slowly with this story since there's a lot of stuff in it that I really didn't want to risk messing up. Plus there's just that it's ballooned in word-count a few times over the last two months. A note on the tags: Although I've tagged this story with terms like "nullo" and "nullification," each of those tags is really used a bit loosely here, plus there's just that one of the ideas of the story is very specifically to explain where I'm coming from to people who don't understand this whole subject that too often seems to me to just make people go "oh, that groin layout's the bad one, right?" If you're used to works posted here with these sorts of tags also being ones with overtones of abuse, violation and mutilation - well, what you're going to find in this story is the exact opposite of all of that. Addendum, written on the 18th of September 2025: I would like to leave this work's original description here as a time capsule, so to speak, of what it looked like for me to talk about my transition here as someone who didn't quite feel safe here as a trans person, but I also find that description inadequate, now, at describing the intent with which this work was written. This is a story written by way of coming to terms with transition and resolving to access gender-affirming care, taking after a tradition of furry art expressions of transition journeys and expressing anger at a culture which I didn't trust to be respectful of those who transition the way I did. For all of these things, wrapped in a shell of pointed sex-positivity by and for those who get labeled intrinsically unfuckable, I cherish this work. This story's protagonist fears that to transition is to die; they come to know, haltingly but needfully, that to transition is to live.
