Over the years, I have considered muting/blocking anyone who doesn't refer to them as The Arsenal.

But time has taught me it is easier to just let it go.

That's funny.

When I saw your Cirencester post, I thought, 'Hey, Tom isn't that far from me...'

Now I realise that you probably went almost right by my house.

Sorry Raglan...
Zero evidence for any historical uniformity, but hey, if it neets Hollywood and viewer expectations, why not go for it...?

Thank you.

Very insightful, as always.

LoL!
Indeed I do, and if I am honest, I think that's a very healthy camp to be in.
Much better than getting worked up over the shape of a helmet or the length of elf-ears...

... like I do!

This is exactly the thing with AI. If you are happy with something that is fairly generic (or mediocre), you are fine with generic AI. Most generic AI are LLMs, so they will just make stuff up.

If you want accuracy and excellence, you train your model and use the right data, or you do it yourself.

... but I assume rumour and heresay continue to creep back in, so just because someone wrote it down within 200 years of it supposedly happening doesn't make it true...?

Asking for a friend!

A great cd Per,

I am not sure where I got that one from, but I remember that I picked up the second one from Ed when I encountered him in Chester, UK, in about 2001?

I was listening to it earlier today!

I like grids.

I have a bit of a thing about doing a grid based game that isn't on a square grid at all.

But I accept I am in a tiny minority. Even the visionary @historianinharness.bsky.social seems to have backed away from the idea.

It took me a few moments to realise all sense of scale was wrong, and this was, in fact, some very small furniture!

I think you are the first person to ever tell me moving on to Cardiff was a good call.

You could have said "Rob or Jeff would have loved to see you!" in the full knowledge that neither of them was in.

Good to hear everything feels a bit better. Maybe catch up at Rob's do?

I considered inviting myself to visit you on Tuesday to see how you are doing.

I was in the area...

... but then thought, "No, best not, he will be stiff but funtional!" and quickly moved on to Cardiff instead.

Exactly this.
March 14, 2025 at 6:41 PM
Oh, and 7. Free League, The One Ring!
March 13, 2025 at 7:54 PM
I will do this for RPGs.

1. D&D Basic Set ('77)
2. D&D Basic Set ('77)
3. Probably RQ3
4. Harnmaster?
5. Ars Magica 3rd ed.
6. Coriolis

LoL!

Thanks - Great video!

I think you have nearly as much Harn stuff as I do...

... okay, maybe not. You are in front. But not by much!

I always loved Harn. I started collecting it as soon as it appeared in Europe and have never stopped.

A huge influence on all my gaming for more than 40 years.

Looks more mid to late 20th century than 15th century, without major roads or industry?

Generative AI is fairly mediocre at this stuff as it relies on popular themes and not anything proven, like archaeology.

Maybe I am being too harsh. Everything has to start somewhere!

Well, it could be argued that if you say you are going to the shop this week, you will go to the shop before the end of this week.
And if you say you are going to the shop next week, you will not leave until the start of next week?

"Then Sirs, we must bustle!"

You can never have too many boxes of Gripping Beast DA infantry and cavalry...

Perfect for many occasions.

But, I admit I might have a slight bias!

came hard against the walls of the welkin,
scaling high peaks to put an end to fear."

I don't want to go all sentimental, but thinking back on it, I believe Hobbsey will always be here, with all of us.

Indeed!
